The birth of Cinnamon Girl Tea & Spices
My love of tea and spices started when I was a girl
Enjoying the wonderful aroma and taste of various quality tea and spices, sparks in me such joy!
It all starts back to when I was a child. The sweet memories of having sleepovers at my grandparent’s house. My sister, Emma and I would help our Nan Ruby, cook beautiful curries for dinner, adding in lots of those wonderful spices I can remember – curry powder, cumin, cardamom, chilli – the smell, flavour and colour of those spices, still takes me back now.
In the early hours of the morning, we would be woken by my pop, Goog, bustling around in the kitchen, listening to 6PR on the radio, making cups of tea for my Nan Ruby, my younger sister, Emma, and me. My grandparents were part of the Cottesloe early morning swimmers’ group and we would be at the beach around 5am. Pop would hand us all a cup of hot, milky, sugary tea, in bed. We would all just sit for those few quiet moments, enjoying a cuppa together, before heading out the door to start our day.
My other grandmother, Jess, was also a tea drinker too and whenever I went to visit, we would always sit and have a pot of tea together. I very much enjoyed those moments, talking about her travels around the world, something we had in common. It would bring me joy to hear her stories and I know she loved hearing mine.
Nowadays, I still sit for a few quiet moments in the morning, although I now drink my tea black with no milk and no sugar or a herbal blend, and each morning as I am waiting for the kettle to boil, and with 6PR on in the background, I am always taken back to this beautiful memory.
Part of my morning ritual is to select from a variety of teas I have available, pop the tea leaves into the teapot, watch the water swirl the leaves around and let it sit until it is ready for me to sip and enjoy before I head out the door to start my day. Usually to walk along the beach (not swim)!
The inspiration of Cinnamon Girl Tea & Spices first started in the beautiful South-West region of Western Australia after my sister Emma and her husband Kim travelled through the stunning tea fields of Nuwara-Eliya, Sri Lanka. They experienced not only some of the finest tea and food in the world, but also discovered this hidden gem of a country. From here began their journey into the tea and spice trade.
Now, I am excited to be part of it all, and having recently travelled to Japan, experiencing traditional and authentic tea ceremonies, have a love of blending our own teas and experimenting with different spices to create exciting new flavours for you to enjoy.
Cinnamon Girl Tea & Spices philosophy is simple…. source the best quality tea and spices from the premier regions around the globe and bring them to you… inspiring happiness, health and special memories.
I hope you enjoy your Cinnamon Girl Tea & Spices and I can’t wait to interact with you on the socials!
I am sort of a tea addict. I structure my day by cups of tea.ST Joshi
